The HDZ took two of the available three seats seat aside for Croatians abroad, with the most votes going to the top candidate on the HDZ slate Dr Božo Ljubić and the second candidate on the slate Željko Raguž. The third seat was won by independent candidate Željko Glasnović
For the first time since Croatia regained its independence the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) party has failed to win all the seats in Parliament set aside for the 11th electoral district representing Croatians abroad. Of the three available seats the HDZ took two, with the most votes going to the top candidate on the HDZ slate Dr Božo Ljubić and the second candidate on the slate Željko Raguž. The third seat was won by independent candidate Željko Glasnović.
According to the first incomplete election results released by the State Electoral Commission (Državno izborno povjerenstvo) at 11:30pm on the 11th of September, the HDZ party had a convincing lead in the 11th electrical district. With 67.8 per cent of the polling stations counted the HDZ slate had won 62.28 per cent of the popular vote, with Željko Glasnović’s independent slate taking 27.22 per cent, Milan Bandić’s slate 4.46 per cent and the Most party only 2.47 per cent of the vote. All polling stations in Croatia and abroad were closed at 7pm.
Based on the first data 15,807 voters turned out in Bosnia-Herzegovina as a whole. Of that figure 11,441 voters turned out in the city of Mostar to vote for MPs in Croatian Parliament. 469 voted in Sarajevo, 669 in Banja Luka and 1,126 in Tuzla.
