In a very broad field of competitors from over seventy countries around the world the Croatian national representatives returned to their homes sporting two team medals, six individual bronze medals, and four individual silver medals.
The Croatian culinary team took part in an Olympic-style culinary event hosted by the Germany city of Stuttgart. This is the largest and most prestigious culinary competitive event in the world and this year saw over thirty Croatian cooks and pastry chefs competing in various categories from 14 to 19 February. In this very broad field of competitors from over seventy countries around the world they certainly chalked up some successes and returned to their homes proudly sporting two team medals, six individual bronze medals, and four individual silver medals.
Ivan Đukić took home a silver medal in the culinary arts individual category Classic Thai Style Carving. In the same category Dražen Šafar, another Croatian team member took home a diploma. Mr Đukić also won a prize, the bronze medal, in the Live Carving culinary arts individual category. The current Croatian national pastry champion Sandra Jadek was brilliant in the individual competition in the pastry art category, taking home a silver medal.
The Varaždin County regional team showcased their knowledge and skills in setting a cold table consisting of finger foods, cold plates, three hors d’oeuvre, a five-course gala menu, four desserts and petits fours. Their efforts were rewarded with a bronze medal. Dinko Tomašić, a rising hope on the Croatian culinary scene, appeared in the individual culinary category, winning a silver medal. Bronze medals in the same category went to Lovro Stančin, the youngest Croatian team representative, Antonio Bukvić and Tomislav Sabolić. Antonio and Tomislav also took a bronze medal in the culinary arts category, while Erich Glavica took a silver medal in the same category.
