Publisher Bata Pres of Skopje has released a Macedonian translation of Ludwig Bauer’s novel Don Juan’s Great Love and the Little Balkan War.
With the support of the Macedonian Ministry of Culture, as a project of national interest in the domain of literature and publishing, publisher Bata Pres of Skopje has released a Macedonian translation of Ludwig Bauer’s novel Don Juanova velika ljubav i mali balkanski rat (Don Juan’s Great Love and the Little Balkan War).
According to the press release the Croatian edition of the novel was released in 2002 and was received by domestic literary critics as a work that was “at the very pinnacle of recent domestic prose that delves into the topic of history and individuals in its always turbulent coordinates. The chief strengths of Bauer’s novels are his skilful plot development, an avoidance of tiresome historical sermonising and an ironic distance from the ‘difficult topics’ with which reality bombards us anyways. His novels posses that rare melding of a potential bestseller and a knowledgeable but not tiresome approach to serious topics” (Jagna Pogačnik), and as a novel of the Croatian and central European sphere, the good name of which “no borders can stop” (Sead Begović).
