Pursuant to articles 20 and 24 of the Statutes of the Croatian Heritage Foundation, the Board of Governors, at the proposal of Croatian Government, at its session of 13 July, appointed Marin Knezović MSc to the post of director. The decision came into effect on 16 July and Mr Knezović will be at the post for a four-year term. The current director Katarina Fuček has completed her term at the post, which she assumed on 16 July 2009.
The new director was born in Zagreb on 3 June 1968. He completed his elementary and secondary education here and his studies at the University of Zagreb`s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He earned his master`s degree at the same faculty on the subject of Revivalist Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina from 1830 to 1849. By profession he is a web designer. He has taught history in elementary and secondary trade schools and secondary schools. He is the author of The Croatian National Revival, a handbook on the advanced teaching of history published in Zagreb in 2005. He has provided expert training for history teachers and was a researcher in the Triplex Confinium international research project. He has published research papers that treat early modern Croatian history, the Croatian national revival and the Maspok (Mass Movement) period.
He is currently engaged in research on eco-history topics, and in particular those related to the Croatian Early Medieval period. He is a member of the Association for Economic History and Eco-History. He is the proprietor and author of the centre for
Croatian History as of 2005.

Political career
From 2004 to 2009 Mr Knezović was employed as an independent administrative clerk at the City of Zagreb Education, Culture and Sports Bureau. From 2009 he worked as a Web coordinator at the Zagrebački Holding municipal company. He is a member of SDP (Social Democratic Party) Croatia. From 2001 to 2004 he served as president of the SDP chapter in the Zagreb quarter of Utrine, and from 2001 to 2005 as a member of the presidency of the local chapter of the SDP for Novi Zagreb East. He served as president of the SDP chapter for Novi Zagreb East from 2005 to 2010, and as a member of the Municipal Board of the City of Zagreb chapter of the SDP in the same period. He was a member of the SDP Croatia central committee from 2008 to 2012. He is currently serving as the vice president of the local chapter of the SDP for Novi Zagreb East. He was elected as a councillor in the City of Zagreb Assembly in 2009. He is the chair of the City of Zagreb Assembly Committee for the Names of Settlements, Streets and Squares. He is a member of the City of Zagreb Assembly Committee for Culture and of the Steering Committee of the Croatian Employment Service. He is also a member of Amnesty International Croatia.
