On the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the publication of her first collection Šapat ljubavi (Whisper of Love) and her latest, fifteenth volume Pozivanje začetka (Calling Inception) a symposium was staged on the 24th of November before a packed Writer’s Society of Macedonia hall in Skopje, Macedonia focused on the poetry of Ljerka Toth Naumova.
On hand to present the work of Ms Toth Naumova were Vasil Drvošanov PhD and Marina Mijakovska MA. Many gathered for the presentation, including Ivica Matešić from the Croatian embassy, Monsignor Antun Cirimotić, the president of the Writer’s Society of Macedonia Vele Smilevski, members of the Croatian community in Skopje and Tetovo and many writers and journalists.
Speaking of the oeuvre of Croatian-Macedonian poet Ljerka Toth Naumova, Vasil Drvošanov discussed her multi-decade activity on the Croatian and Macedonian poetry scene – from 1975 to the present day. In his presentation Drvošanov cited some of the literary critics that have written about the work of Ms Toth Naumova. One of these was Ludwig Bauer, who wrote of her work saying, “Ljerka Toth Naumova is a mature poet that freely disposes of her talent, pouring a well-rounded philosophy of life into poetic expression.” Marina Mijakovska offered an inspired presentation of her latest collection. She and writer Mihail Rendžov also served as the book’s reviewers.
