An exhibition on 100 Years of Duje Balavac opened on August 1st at the Caffe Letterario in Italy’s Mundimitar (Montemitro) celebrating Split’s first satirical magazine.
The exhibition, showcasing the Croatian city of Split in the early 20th century, is the work of Ingrid Poljanić of the Marko Marulić Municipal Library. It has already been staged successfully before ten Croatian minority communities across Europe. The exhibition follows the emergence of the magazine, which grew out of the new ideas introduced by students from Split who studied in Graz, Vienna, Prague, Padua and Rome.Branka Bezić Filipović welcomed the gathered on behalf of the CHF. The event was opened by the author and, on behalf of the Piccolli Foundation, by Antonio Sammartino, kicking off a series of events in the frame of this summer’s Lito s nami, lipo s name (Summer With Us, Its Nice With Us) project. The exhibition runs through to the end of August.
