A Croatian language workshop on the topic of our dialects was staged in the fold of the “Travelling School” project
The Croatian Forum (Hrvatski forum) joined forces with the Croatian Heritage Foundation and the Macedonian-Croatian Society to stage a language workshop on the topic of Croatian dialects on 6 May as part of the “Travelling School” project activities.
The workshop was moderated by Vedran Iskra. Vedran holds a master’s degree in Croatian language and literature and another master’s degree in cultural studies (in literature). Vedran spoke of the three primary Croatian dialects in terms of a division based on the word used to denote “what” (ča in the Chakavian, kaj in the Kaykavian and što in the Shtokavian dialects). Through an interactive approach and diverse content, the workshop participants had an opportunity to learn more about the various local Croatian vernaculars, specific areas and interesting facts.
Also appearing at the online workshop were the CHF’s Lada Kanajet Šimić and Croatian Forum general secretary Marko Vidaček. This is the second workshop in the fold of “Travelling School” activities. The previous session was staged with pupils of elementary and secondary schools in North Macedonia. A further two dramatic arts workshops for the youngest pupils are in progress.
