CHF Programme Promo for Croaticum Participants

2 Min Read

Fifteen Croaticum course participants from the Croatian communities in South America, Australia, Hungary and Austria have already applied for CHF summer programmes.

The Croatian Heritage Foundation’s culture department staged a presentation of CHF programmes on the 18th of April for participants of a course hosted by the Croaticum Centre for Croatian as a Second and Foreign Language, a department of the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The participants are descendants of Croatian emigrants or members of ethnic Croatian indigenous minority communities in other European countries, all of who have come to Croatia to learn their ancestral language. The CHF headquarters were visited by two groups of course participants interested in taking part in CHF hosted programmes.
Department head Snježana Jurišić presented our culture department’s summer programme schedule. She highlighted in particular the 5th traditional costume review and Miss Croatian Folk Costume Pageant from the Croatian communities abroad, to be held in Bosnia-Herzegovina from the 2nd to 7th of July of this year, with the main event to be held in Tomislavgrad on the 6th of July. Other long-standing CHF summer programmes were showcased via the CHF Internet portal and its Facebook profile, including the Eco Heritage Task Force, the Creating Theatre seminar, the Summer School of Croatian Folklore, and other periodic events such as exhibitions, round tables, promotions, and the CFU junior tamburitza festival.
The Croaticum course participants were invited to follow announcements on the CHF Internet site and to apply for our programmes, volunteer or submit proposals for collaborative activities.
Of the thirty ethnic Croatian course participants from South America, Australia, Hungary and Austria half have already applied for our programmes. The interest has been great, which is delightful and encouraging, with their learning of the Croatian language thus compounded by an opportunity to even better acquaint themselves with our heritage, traditions and a much broader view of the wealth of Croatian culture.
