On hand for the donation ceremony were the heads of ACAP Zagreb, the management of the Clinical Hospital Centre in Zagreb and the Petrova clinic, representatives of the Croatian health ministry, state secretary at the State Office for Croats Abroad Zvonko Milas, and W. Robert Kohorst, the ambassador of the United States of America to Croatia.
On the 4th of July the humanitarian foundation of the Association of Croatian-American Professionals (ACAP) donated a hybrid neonatal incubator and a neonatal resuscitation system, worth a combined 44 thousand dollars, for the neonatology department of the Petrova clinic in Zagreb.
In its press release ACAP said that the donation goes to a hospital clinic damaged in the earthquake that recently hit Zagreb (https://www.croampro.com/). ACAP noted that its local branch in Zagreb worked closely with our hospitals to determine where the greatest needs were, leading to the 4th of July donation.
This donation to the neonatology department of the Clinic for Gynaecology and Obstetrics (Petrova clinic), worth 44 thousand dollars, follows on a previous monetary donation of 125 thousand dollars for the Dubrava Clinical Hospital Centre in Zagreb and the Clinical Hospital Centre in Split.
The monetary donation from Mario Ančić, Ante Kušurin, and their partners Dick Cashin and Steve Lunau at One Equity Partners, was received by the hospitals last month as part of the efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic fears.
Pjer Šimunović, our ambassador to the USA, who helped bring ACAP in contact with the relevant institutions in Croatia, noted that this generous and noble medical donation once again demonstrates that the hearts of American Croatians beat as one with the heart of Croatia, especially in the toughest of times. The Association of Croatian-American Professionals Foundation (ACAPF) will continue to collect funds until it achieves its target of 200 thousand dollars. So far over 420 people have donated some 190 thousand dollars. The association notes that this is the first round of their campaign to collect funds for the ACAP foundation, founded last year with the mission of providing support to various initiatives that aim to encourage business and education experiences in Croatia. Following the recent earthquake and with the coronavirus pandemic scare in focus, the ACAP membership across the USA quickly stepped up to provide aid to Croatia. (Hina/HMI)
