Ahead of the historic 1st of July the town of Nin was the venue for the presentation of Irresistible Croatia, a catalogue whose size, 170 x 130 centimetres, will soon garner Croatia the title of home of the world’s largest catalogue according to Guinness World Records.
The current record for the largest catalogue has been held for a full decade by a German publication, but that record is being challenged by two year’s work invested by a group led by author Sunčana Matić: the Irresistible Croatia catalogue will weigh in at 110 kilograms, contain 800 square metres of paper and 350 pages with articles by Croatian experts in the areas of culture, economics and tourism and the best photographs of the beauty of the natural and historical heritage of Croatia.“The idea for the world’s largest catalogue came when I recognised the massive promotional effect of Guinness World Records. I contacted the headquarters in London, got their consent for the procedure to fabricate the largest catalogue in the world and, while waiting for that answer, decided to use this GWR moment as a fitting promotion of Croatia as a modern, equal and competitive member of the EU,” says catalogue author Sunčana Matić.
The article in the catalogue about the Croatian Heritage Foundation, based in the nation’s capital, and the culture and history of interest in Zagreb and across Our Beautiful Homeland related to the 500-year history of Croatia emigration was penned by Croatian Emigrant Almanac editor Vesna Kukavica.
