We are honored and pleased to invite you to the international scientific-professional conference “Migration and Identity: Culture, Economy, State (3)”. The conference is organised by the Institute for Migration Research (IMIN), which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. This celebratory occasion was also marked by a change to the name of the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies to the Institute for Migration Research. The Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies was established in 1984 by merging the Centre for Research on Migration and Ethnic Studies and the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies. It is the only scientific research institution in Croatia, as well as in the wider area, which, by systematic and continuous interdisciplinary monitoring of all forms of migration and mobility of the population, by studying national/ethnic minorities and various aspects of ethnic issues, with particular tasks of encouraging their comparative study, improves the scientific and public understanding of their complexity and reality. In addition, research on Croatian identity, Croatian emigration, the inhabitants of Croatian islands, coastal areas and continental regions, as well as comparative research on post-migration phenomena, such as the integration of migrants, also occupy a significant place in the Institution’s field of activity. In recent years, with the emergence of new migration patterns in Croatia, research has also focused on the transnational perspective of migration, applicants for international protection, irregular migration and foreign workers.
