Croatian Women of Influence Award to Dokoza and Caktaš

Dokoza is a journalist and writer, and serves as the editor of the monthly emigrant Fenix Magazine, while Caktaš is a physician, journalist, president of the Croatian House in Munich, vice-president of the German chapter of the Croatian World Congress and vice president of the Munich chapter of Matrix Croatica

For the second consecutive year the Croatian Women’s Network has nominated women of Croatian heritage for its prestigious Croatian Women of Influence Award and the Top-20-Under-20 Future Leaders Award. The awards were again granted for engagement, innovation, leadership and influence in the academic community, humanitarian organisations, the armed forces, entrepreneurship, the arts, culture and sports. Over seventy influential Croatian women around the world were nominated in each category.

Among the women of Croatian extraction from Croatia, Australia, Canada, the United States of America, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom are the winners of the Croatian Women of Influence Award from Germany Marijana Dokoza and Neda Caktaš.

Dokoza is a journalist and writer, and serves as the editor of the monthly emigrant Fenix Magazine, while Caktaš is a physician, journalist, president of the Croatian House in Munich, vice-president of the German chapter of the Croatian World Congress and vice president of the Munich chapter of Matrix Croatica.

An all-day conference in Zagreb on International Women’s Day, March 8th, 2017, will close with the awards ceremony.

Marijana Dokoza has also been numbered this year among twenty-five prominent women of migrant background living in Mainz. The project is led by the City of Mainz and the Casa del Sol organisation in collaboration with the local migration and integration bureau and the municipal office for culture. The City of Mainz is staging an exhibition on the 19th of January 2017, to be opened by Mainz mayor Michael Ebling.
