On hand for the congress were the deputy head of the Croatian State Office For Croats Abroad, representatives of the Croatian Heritage Foundation, the Croatian Ambassador to Macedonia and the representative of the Roman Catholic church in Macedonia. The young and ambitious Nenad Živković won the majority of the votes. He is now faced with the task of implementing the new statutes of the Croatian Community in Macedonia and establishing a new chapter of the ZHRM in Skopje.
On hand for the 17th annual electoral congress of the Croatian Community in Macedonia (ZHRM) held on the 30th of April in the Macedonian capital of Skopje were guests from Macedonia and Croatia; the deputy head of the Croatian State Office For Croats Abroad Jasmina Kovačević Čavlović, representatives of the Croatian Heritage Foundation, Croatian Ambassador to Macedonia Zlatko Kramarić and former Croatian Ambassador to Macedonia Ivan Kujundžić, Monsignor Antun Cirimotić representing the Roman Catholic church in Macedonia and representatives of the Macedonian state operated radio and television company.
The gathered were welcomed by the ZHRM leadership, followed by speeches from the guests. A striking speech was delivered by Monsignor Antun Cirimotić. Croatian Community in Macedonia president Franjo Ipša presented letters of thanks to guests and citations and plaques to ZHRM members that have made particular contributions to the work of the organisation. Zorica Trajčevska and Ivan Šerkinić of the Kumanovo chapter received plaques, while Marina Ujčić received a citation.
The working part of the congress opened with the election of the presiding panel and the agenda. The congress unanimously approved the proposed amendments to the organisation’s statutes. Three candidates were nominated for the post of president: Nenad Živković, Violeta Kalić and Zorana Kostovska.
