On behalf of sponsor the CHF the event was open by the head of our culture department, who noted its contribution to the local community and its cultural and societal life, and the bridges created with painters abroad, primarily those coming from the ethnic Croatian enclaves in other European countries, the Croatian national component of Bosnia-Herzegovina and in the many diaspora communities elsewhere.

The Antun Petrović – Rešetari International Art Colony, active in the fold of the Rešetari Literary and Arts Society, saw its gala opening on the 15th of June. The event gathered some forty artists from the homeland and abroad with the mission of creating works of art in the park of the Rešetari art gallery. Also working in the colony were members of the Petrović Art Group and members of arts associations with which the Rešetari Literary and Arts Society has collaborated for many years. The guests and painters taking part in the art colony were greeted by the hosts, the president of the municipal council Milka Perković and the president of the Rešetari Literary and Arts Society Ivan De Villa.

On behalf of the sponsor, the Croatian Heritage Foundation, the event was declared open by the head of our culture department Snježana Jurišić, who noted its contribution to the local community and its cultural and societal life, and the bridges created with painters abroad, primarily those coming from the ethnic Croatian enclaves in other European countries, the Croatian national component of Bosnia-Herzegovina and in the many diaspora communities elsewhere.

The first day of the event saw the creative work of the artists, exchanges of experiences and pointers, plans for future activities and the presentation of letters of thanks and commemorative gifts to all participants. An exhibition of the artwork produced is to be held in Rešetari and in the Croatian communities in neighbouring Slovenia, Hungary and Italy with the aim of strengthening our shared cultural heritage through promotion and presentation of artwork.
