Klapa groups from Argentina, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Germany and Serbia will gather on September 28 at the Croatian National Theater (HNK) in Split, and will be joined by three guest klapa groups from Croatia.
The Croatian Heritage Foundation and the City of Split are organizing the 4th Festival of Klapa Groups Croats Outside the Republic of Croatia, which, under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, starting at 8 pm at the Croatian National Theater in Split.
This year’s Festival will bring together Croatian klapa groups from six countries, ranging from neighboring and European countries to South America, confirming how strongly the tradition of klapa singing is present among Croats outside the homeland.
Performing on the stage of the Croatian National Theater in Split are Klapa Bellezza from Montenegro, Klapa Croatia from Germany, Klapa Grga and Klapa Bratovština sv. Stjepana from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Klapa Dičaki from Austria, Klapa HKPD Jelačić from Serbia and Klapa Valovi from Argentina.
They will be joined by two guest klapa groups from Croatia – Klapa Krunik and Klapa Maestral, so this musical evening will connect klapa singers from the homeland and Croatian communities around the world at one venue.

The Festival of Klapa Groups of Croats Outside the Republic of Croatia is one of the Croatian Heritage Foundation’s programs, dedicated to preserving and promoting Croatian cultural heritage and strengthening the connection between Croatian communities outside the Republic of Croatia and their homeland. Klapa singing is not only a recognizable musical expression, but also an important part of the Croatian cultural identity that has been preserved, nurtured and passed on for generations far beyond Croatia’s borders.
After previous successful editions, the Festival will once again provide an opportunity for klapa groups outside the Republic of Croatia to present their artistic work in the homeland, connect with each other and exchange experiences with klapa groups from Croatia, but also to get to know the cultural heritage and traditions of the region in which they are visiting.
This year’s gathering carries special symbolism: Split, a city inextricably linked to the tradition of Dalmatian klapa songs, will become a meeting place for Croatian voices from Europe, South America, and the homeland at the end of September.
The Croatian Heritage Foundation and the City of Split are the Festival’s organizers, with partners including Split-Dalmatia County, the Association of Cultural and Artistic Societies of Split-Dalmatia County, and the Croatian National Theater in Split. The Festival is being held under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
