At the Emigrant’s Club visitors will have an opportunity to view the ethnographic collection with exhibits from the island’s history and an exhibition of photos by Borislav Ostojić. A new promotional brochure on the island of Susak prepared by the Tourism Board of Mali Lošinj will also be presented.
Island of Susak Emigrant’s Day will be staged on Sunday, July 27th. Visitors will be treated to a diverse programme, including a presentation and sampling of local islander products, an exhibition, folklore performances and entertainment.
Organised by the Rijeka branch office of the Croatian Heritage Foundation, the City of Mali Lošinj, the Susak Neighbourhood Council and the Tourism Board of the City of Mali Lošinj, the 29th Island of Susak Emigrant’s Day will be held on the last Sunday in July.
The all-day programme starts with a Christian mass at the parish church of St Nicola at 9:30 am. The event continues in the late afternoon with a presentation and sampling of local islander products and wines in the courtyard of the local school, kicking off at 5 pm.
At the Emigrant’s Club visitors will have an opportunity to view an ethnographic collection with exhibits from the island’s history and an exhibition of photos by Borislav Ostojić – for the past thirty years he has recorded this unique sandy island and its inhabitants. Later visitors will be treated to a presentation of a new promotional brochure on the island of Susak prepared for Emigrant’s Day by the Tourism Board of Mali Lošinj.
The events will continue in the evening – at 8 pm a folklore ensemble sporting the rich Susak folk costume will showcase the island’s wealth of traditional dances. Later in the evening the event will include a Zumba dance performance followed by a concert featuring the Eureka band to late into the night.
