The Croatian community of Sambotel celebrated the anniversary of its local association, founded to nurture the Croatian language, traditions and culture.

The Croatian community of the Hungarian city of Sambotel (Szombathely) celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of the Sambotel Croatian Association at the Croatian School Centre on Szombathely’s Mari Jaszai street on the 20th of January. The association aims to nurture the Croatian language, traditions and culture.
On hand to congratulate the merrymakers and present symbolic gifts on this major anniversary event were numerous Croatian and Hungarian elected officials. The greatest gifts, of course, were the performances presented by the Croatian children attending kindergarten and school, the Sambotel senior dance ensemble, the Guslari tamburitza ensemble, the Đurđice vocal ensemble, the actors and the cancan dancers.
The event programme closed with a minute of silence for all deceased members followed by cake, sparkling wine and a sumptuous dinner for the many gathered members and guests.
