During the St Blaise (Sveti Vlaho) festival of 2002 the Ante & Evelyn Mrgudić scholarship fund was created in the fold of the Libertas Foundation with the aim of providing scholarships to young people in professions in limited supply in Dubrovnik-Neretva County. The objective of the scholarship is to encourage young people to remain in rural parts of the county, to motivate them to better learning and to provide financial aid to disadvantaged families.
In selecting candidates for the scholarship a high level of social sensitivity is shown in choosing children from rural areas, bearing in mind the financial situation of the family. The scholarships are awarded to children from families of straitened financial circumstance. In this way they help the family provide an education for their children and encourage the children to complete the education they have chosen and return to their native place to create conditions for a good life and future.
Since 2003 the Libertas Foundation has awarded 135 scholarships for trades in Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
