HOŠIG Celebrates Croatian Culture Week

CHF deputy director Ivan Tepeš and the head of our education, science and sports department Lada Kanajet Šimić took part in the HOŠIG event on behalf of the Croatian Heritage Foundation.

Budapest’s HOŠIG, a centre that combines a Croatian-language kindergarten, elementary school, gymnasium and dormitory, kicked off its Croatian Culture Week on the 26th of November. The event, which runs through to the 30th of November, celebrates the institution’s 25th anniversary.

On hand for the gala opening were Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, state secretary at the State Office for Croats Abroad Zvonko Milas, Croatian ambassador to Hungary Mladen Andrlić, the spokesperson for the Croatian minority in Hungarian Parliament Jozo Solga, the president of the Croatian national self-government in Hungary Ivan Gugan and the president of the Croatia self-government in the City of Budapest Anica Petreš Németh. The school programme opened with dances performed by the school’s children and an excerpt from the Vremeplov (Time Machine) historical stage play.
