The University of Split will award honorary doctorates to two of our prominent scientists, Igor Rudan DSc and Ivan Đikić DSc, on the 14th of June. The ceremony will coincide with the University of Split Day. There can be nothing more logical than this decision considering that both men worked at the University of Split’s School of Medicine for extended periods and that they remain associated with the School of Medicine.
Furthermore, these are two of our truly exceptional scientists with major international successes.
The decision to award the honorary doctorates was adopted by the senate of the university at its session of May 30th of this year. The initiative to award the honorary doctorates to these two scientists in particular, both for their exceptional creative work in science, and for the contributions to the promotion of our university, came from the School of Medicine, of which they are active associates, with the initiative supported by the Faculty of Science and the university’s department for health studies. A three-member expert commission with competence to rule on the matter concluded that, in this concrete case, all prerequisites have been fulfilled for the awarding of a honorary doctorate, and gave its recommendation to the senate of the university to adopt this decision, confirmed associate professor Željko Radić DSc, the vice rector for administration and development of human resources at the University of Split.
