The Ministry of Demography and Immigration is implementing the Croatian Language Learning Program in the Republic of Croatia with the aim of encouraging the return of Croatian emigrants and their descendants to their homeland and their successful integration.
By learning the Croatian language, scholarship recipients acquire important language skills for successful inclusion in social and economic life in the Republic of Croatia, while also becoming familiar with Croatian culture and heritage, strengthening identity and all-Croatian unity.
The Ministry of Demography and Immigration, as of April 8th, 2025, is announcing a Public Call for the allocation of up to 500 scholarships for learning the Croatian language in the Republic of Croatia for the academic year 2025/2026.
The right to apply for the Public Call is granted to:
- Croatian emigrants / Croats outside the Republic of Croatia or their descendants
- Spouses of Croatian emigrants / Croats from outside the Republic of Croatia.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, have completed at least high school, and have a residence outside the Republic of Croatia or residence/temporary stay in the Republic of Croatia for no longer than three years as of the date of publication of this Public Call.
The Croatian Language Course providers are: the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, and Pula, and the University of Zadar. The scholarship includes regular attendance of classes at the course location in the Republic of Croatia.
