The Croatian Heritage Foundation – Rijeka Branch co-organizes the event, which has gathered Croatian emigrants, returnees, and islanders for almost two decades.

The 19th Emigrants’ Days on Unije began with an exhibition of watercolors by George Karcich. In addition to the large audience, locals, emigrants from the USA and Italy, and returnees, the exhibition Watercolors Landscapes was opened with welcome speeches by returnee Silvana Peroš, head of Torać Gallery, Renata Garbajs, head of CHF Rijeka, and author of the exhibition, Croatian emigrant and prominent graduate watercolorist George Karcich.

George Karcich presented motifs of Unije and Mali Lošinj, inspired by his grandfather, a fisherman.

This is his first exhibition in Unije, and every summer during his stay in his hometown, he paints and exhibits in Torać in Ćunski. Along with his two sisters, he is an active member of the Croatian community in the United States.

The exhibition, organized by CHF Rijeka and Torać Gallery, which is wholeheartedly supported by the Women’s Club of Unije with the support of the Unije Local Committee, remains open until July 25, 2026.
