The new issue of Matica is here. This June, we were particularly proud to open a new section – Croatian Teaching Abroad – which is dedicated to the importance of preserving the Croatian language among the younger generations living outside the homeland. For this issue, we have chosen to present the Croatian Teaching Abroad program in Switzerland, while a fascinating report from Canada was also dedicated to the topic of language, in which Matica’s Head of the Department of Science and Education, Lada Kanajet Šimić, was part of the team that held a series of Croatian language seminars and workshops there. This issue also includes an interview with Ana Grgić, head of Croaticum, the central institution for teaching Croatian as a second and foreign language. Also in this issue is the story of the return to Croatia of Bernadette and Dennis Šimić, a married couple with their three children, who replaced life in Australia with Dalmatia. We were present at the festival of Croatian folklore in Germany, as well as at the first seminar of Croatian folklore in Switzerland. In the June issue, Marijan Lipovac brings an interesting text about Moravian Croats – the most tragic Croatian minority, and we were also at the promotion of the richly illustrated monograph entitled Boje hrvatske Moravske.
