The Croatian Home in Cleveland, with its rich collections, library and cultural activities, represents a permanent guardian of Croatian history, tradition and national identity among Croatian emigrants.
During his stay in Cleveland, CHF Director Zdeslav Milas visited the Croatian Home, one of the most important centers of the Croatian community in the United States.
Stanko Katić and his associates welcomed Director Milas and presented the Home’s rich activities, which bring together the Croatian community and preserve the valuable heritage of the Croatian people. Through the dedicated work and enthusiasm of numerous volunteers, the Croatian Home has become a place of encounter, unity and transfer of Croatian tradition to new generations.
One of the Home’s special features is its rich library of rare and valuable publications on Croatian history, culture, and the diaspora, an important resource for researchers, students, and all Croatian-heritage enthusiasts. Equally impressive is the collection of Croatian folklore costumes, traditional clothes and folklore heritage from different parts of Croatia, collected over the years thanks to the dedication of Croatian emigrants who wanted to preserve the memory of their roots.
Through its activities, the Croatian Home shows how much the Croatian diaspora has contributed to preserving national identity outside the homeland. Its collections, cultural programs and gatherings testify to the lasting connection of Croatian emigrants with their homeland and the desire to transfer the Croatian language, customs and cultural heritage to future generations.
The visit of the director of the Croatian Heritage Foundation was an opportunity to thank everyone who, through their dedicated work, preserves Croatian heritage in Cleveland and continues to build strong ties between the homeland and the diaspora.
