In Gradska kavana café in Dubrovnik, on August 25, 2026, the traditional Emigrant Gathering was held, organized every year by the Croatian Heritage Foundation – Dubrovnik Branch Office and aimed at connecting Croatia’s south with its emigrants.

This year’s Gathering took place in a particularly warm and humanitarian atmosphere, and the central moment was New York’s Club Dubrovnik awarding donations to the Domus Christi Nursing Home and the Dubrovnik Nursing Home, a beautiful example of Dubrovnik emigrants’ connection to their hometown. Club president Šime Šimunović presented cash donations to directors Mirjana Vujnović and Ivica Puljić.

On behalf of the Croatian Heritage Foundation – Dubrovnik Branch Office, Maja Mozara thanked NY’s Club Dubrovnik, which, this time, as in previous years, showed how strong the connection of Dubrovnik with its emigrants can be, and emphasized that these donations intended for nursing homes are not only material assistance, but above all, a sign of attention, care and responsibility to their community of origin. She also thanked Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the City of Dubrovnik on behalf of everyone the assistance was intended for. Žaklina Marević, head of the county prefect’s office and a member of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Assembly, attended the meeting.
At the pleasant gathering, they discussed cooperation so far, future projects, and ways to better connect Croatia’s south with its diaspora.
