On 10 June popular music singer Tereza Kesovija was presented a French arts and literature decoration by Gaël Veyssièren, the ambassador of France to Croatia, at a reception for some sixty guests staged at the diplomat’s residence in Zagreb’s Tuškanac quarter and hosted by the ambassador and his wife Anthi.
Among the guests were the family of Ms Kesovija and her close friends, including fellow singer Gabi Novak and lawyer Gordana Miljević. Also at the event were culture and media minister Ms Obuljen Koržinek, Krapina-Zagorje County prefect Željko Kolar, and Ms Markotić, the director of the Dr Fran Mihaljević Clinic for Infectious Diseases.
“I am immensely grateful and will continue to work as I have thus far, until the one up there calls me,” Kesovija said, adding that, “I haven’t much time, but whatever time is left to me I intend to use to its fullest. If I never received another prize, that’s quite all right; this one is enough for the rest of my earthly existence. I miss France immensely and carry it with me in my heart and will do so for my entire life. For me France is so much more than a country.”
