As this will be the tenth reincarnation of this project we believe that many pupils, from ages six to eighteen, will participate in great numbers and that the prizes will be a further incentive to take part in this worthy initiative.
The Rijeka branch office of the Croatian Heritage Foundation, in collaboration with the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, has for many years now organised a creative writing and journalism contest for pupils attending Croatian supplementary schools, and pupils living abroad participating in other forms of the organised instruction of Croatian as a mother tongue
As this will be the tenth reincarnation of this project we believe that many pupils, from ages six to eighteen, will participate in great numbers and that the prizes will be a further incentive to take part in this worthy initiative.
The topics are proposed by a panel of judges including Dr Karol Visinko, Marica Zrilić and Marta Lončarević. This year the topic in the creative writing category is LISTENING TO THE WORDS OF THE HOMELAND FROM AFAR. The topics in the journalism category are ANCIENT CUSTOMS ARE MY HOMELAND’S BULWARK and THE CUSTOMS OF THE LAND OF MY ANCESTORS.
Teachers and mentors are asked to review the submissions and submit their selections at the latest by 8 April 2013, exclusively by e-mail at muzej@matis.hr.
Please note that this is a prize contest. The first prize winning pupils in each category receive a diploma and win a stay at the Croatian Heritage Foundation Summer School. Second prize winners in the creative writing and journalism categories receive a letter of commendation. Other participants will receive a participation commendation.
