Susak Island Featured in the October Issue of Matica Magazine

3 Min Read

The latest issue covers the fifteenth anniversary of the opening of a CHF branch in Vukovar and a visit by the Croatian president and a CHF delegation to Pittsburgh for the 125th anniversary of the Croatian Fraternal Union. Matica also covers a number of book promos and publications dealing with diaspora issues.

The October Issue of Matica Magazine features Susak, in many ways a unique, singular and distinct island. Anomalous as a sand island in the Adriatic, home to the only European women’s folk costume where the skirt rises above the knees, and possessing an idiosyncratic local idiom influenced by neighbouring languages, Susak tells a story all its own.

We also cover some landmark dates, the fifteenth anniversary of the opening of a CHF branch office in the eastern Croatian town of Vukovar and a visit by the Croatian President and a CHF delegation to Pittsburgh to participate in the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Croatian Fraternal Union. Matica also covers a number of book promos and publications dealing with diaspora issues.
