This year’s issue No. 10 of the Croatian Heritage Foundation’s Matica magazine is fresh off the presses. The October issue offers plenty of fascinating stories and events in the ethnic Croatian communities in other European and in overseas countries. This year’s event schedule at the Croatian Heritage Foundation was packed. Read all about our School of Folklore in Zadar on the dances of the Adriatic region with Snježana Jurišić, the Ethnic Croatian Minority Communities Youth Forum in Hungary’s Koljnof on the perspectives of youth education in the Croatian communities of Central and Southeast Europe with Marin Knezović, and an article on a September round table at the CHF on the Pannonian Yearbook as a promoter of the dialects of the Pannonian region with Diana Šimurina-Šoufek.
Matica magazine was on hand for the 6th Herzegovina in Posavina Night, the 23rd Days of Croatian Film in Orašje, at the 21st meeting of poets in Rešetari and the 40th anniversary of HKUD Fala in Switzerland’s Schaffhausen. Our magazine also showcases the returnee stories of Katica Hauptfeld, an Opatija resident from South Africa, and of Ilok mayor Marina Budimir from Leipzig. Important news for Croats abroad include the opening of the sixth diplomatic office in neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina—a consulate in Livno, and the presentation of the registry of Croatian organisations abroad, compiled by the State Office for Croats Abroad. Anniversaries are covered by contributors Branka Bezić Filipović, Karla Franić, Vesna Kukavica, Ljerka Galic, Aleksandar Vodopija and Naida Šehović. Our faithful readership around the world will be delighted to see our regular columnists Vesna Kukavica, Sanja Vulić, Šimun Šito Ćorić, Željko Holjevac and Zvonko Ranogajec in this autumn issue.
