Obituary: Lujo Janković of Hrvatski Jandrof

Lujo and his elder brother Štefe Janković worked with many local groups and associations in shaping the cultural life of the ethnic Croatian community of Hrvatski Jandrof.

 

Activist and musician Lujo Janković of Hrvatski Jandrof (Jarovce), a part of the ethnic Croatian community in Slovakia, died early in the morning of 9 June following a short and severe illness. He passed away at a hospital in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava in his 68th year. He was the bass player and lead singer of the Melodia band (https://volksgruppen.orf.at/hrvati/stories/3107539/). Lujo and his elder brother Štefe Janković worked with many local groups and associations in shaping the cultural life of the ethnic Croatian community of Hrvatski Jandrof.

Lujo was a passionate musician and a father of four. He sang with the local men’s choral association and was active as an actor in an ethnic Croatian theatre troupe in Slovakia. The funeral will be held in Hrvatski Jandrof on Saturday, 11 June at 4:00 PM. (https://volksgruppen.orf.at/hrvati/)
