Croatian World Games wrap up

A medals ceremony in Zagreb on July 26th marked the close of the 3rd Croatian World Games. Some 800 competitors from 25 countries took part, most the descendants of Croatian emigrants. Medals were presented by Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić and by Milan Bošnjak, the delegate of the head of the State Office for Croats Abroad Darija Krstičević.
Mayor Bandić thanked the participants for making the trip to the capital city of Croatians everywhere. “While there are emigrant and homeland Croatians – there will also be a Croatia,” said Bandić. Croatian World Games director Željko Batarilo said that the six-day event entirely lived up to the motto of the Games – One Nation – One Heart. The medals received by the participants will be a souvenir of a wonderful time spent in Croatia said Batarilo.
Milan Bošnjak noted that for the participants of the Games this is an achievement of contact with the land of their ancestors. “These days we have demonstrated the unity of the Croatian nation,” said Bošnjak.
The Croatian world Games ran from July 21st to 26th. Some 800 competitors from 25 countries took part, with over 2,500 people joining the young competitors in Zagreb over the six days of the event.
