The 5th international Croatian as a Second & Foreign Language symposium (HIDIS V) event was staged from December 18th to 20th at the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of the Humanities and Social Sciences.

No. 12 2014 issue of Matica magazine

The Christmas 2014 special issue of Matica magazine was released in mid December, as usual featuring many fascinating articles from the homeland and around the world. The cover features ceramic artist Lucija Perojević’s ‘White Crèche’, exhibited at the Days of Croatian-Austrian Culture & Friendship in Salzburg.

Advent weekend with emigrants in Trogir and Split

The fair in Trogir saw representatives of the Croatian community from Molise in Italy and vintner Mate Kliković from the Gradišće (Burgenland) region in Austria take part. A second Advent candle was lit by journalists at the Brasserie on 7 restaurant owned by two returnees from Australia – Marija Mustapić and Korana Bučić

Memory of Mato Galjuf still alive after 90 years

Galjuf left his native municipality of Župa Dubrovačka between the two world wars. By his efforts he succeeded abroad and gained a significant fortune in Peru. For years he sent monetary assistance to various humanitarian institutions in Dubrovnik, including Domus Christi. The people of Dubrovnik honoured him with the installation of a memorial plaque in 1924.

Hvar Choir performs in Bar, Kotor and Tivat

After the concert in Bar the St Cecilia choir sang for a holy mass in the Cathedral of St Tripun in Kotor and at the auditorium of the Culture Centre in Tivat. The concerts were supported by the Split branch office of the Croatian Heritage Foundation and organised by local Croatian organisations.
