In addition to expressing gratitude for the donations and investments, especially standing out was the initiative to preserve the Istrian goat, once a symbol of every Istrian household.

It was cheerful and nostalgic on August 11 in Labin, where the traditional Gathering of Emigrants was held. On the eve of the gala dinner, County of Istria Prefect, Boris Miletić, thanked the emigrants for their donations to the Labin Medical Center, also highlighting support to those who have returned to their homeland and are investing, mostly in tourism, but also in animal husbandry.

Last year’s initiative by emigrants for the preservation of the Istrian goat – an indigenous animal that used to be present in every household and is now on the verge of extinction – was particularly highlighted.

On behalf of the Croatian Heritage Foundation – Pula Branch, Barbara Buršić addressed those gathered, emphasizing the importance of such gatherings and the willingness of the CHF to assist emigrants in resolving their queries.

The organizers of the gathering are the City of Labin, the municipalities of Raša, Pićan, Kršan, Sveta Nedelja and the Croatian Heritage Foundation – Pula Branch.
