In the premises of the Croatian Heritage Foundation in Zagreb, the creative art workshop Matica Creates – Christmas Magic was successfully held, intended for children of Croatian emigrants, returnees and immigrants, as well as their peers from Croatia.
The workshop was attended by eleven children of preschool and primary school age from Bolivia, England, Norway and Croatia, once again confirming the diversity and richness of the CHF’s community and the importance of connecting children of Croatian descent from different parts of the world.

The workshop was led by employees of the CHF’s Science, Education, Culture and Publishing Unit, who introduced the children to elements of Croatian tradition, customs and cultural heritage through creative activities.

With appropriate holiday music, through play and artistic creativity, the children made Christmas decorations from beads, drew, designed their own magnets and painted wooden artifacts, with special interest for painting their faces with Christmas motifs. The activities were designed to encourage creativity, imagination and cooperation.

In addition to the creative part, the children had the opportunity to take photos in a commemorative Christmas photo frame, creating memories that will remind them of their time spent together. They were especially thrilled with the dessert table, where sweets and cakes awaited them, further complementing the workshop’s holiday atmosphere. The workshop took place in a cheerful and stimulating atmosphere, with mutual acquaintance, exchange of experiences and creation of new friendships.

The Matica Creates – Christmas Magic emphasized the importance of such encounters that connect children of different life experiences in a holiday spirit, jointly offering them a space for learning, creativity and the joy of socializing.
