A travelling exhibition featuring the work of five Croatian artists who live and work in Italy was opened on the 24th of November in the frame of the 23rd Croatian Minorities Forum at the Croatian Heritage Foundation headquarters.
The Croazia Art Attack exhibition showcases the work of artists in Rome of Croatian roots Andre Grdinić, Sanja Knez, Antun Sbutega, Mirjana Sara Sophie (Banić) and Ruža Gagulić and was opened by CHF deputy director Ivan Tepeš.
The exhibition moderator Nives Antoljak spoke of the backgrounds of the showcased artists and suggested that this exhibition could also stage showings in places that are home to our indigenous Croatian minority communities.
Zagreb resident Sanja Knez, whose work is also on exhibit at the CHF, spoke on behalf of the Associazione Mosaico Italo Croato Roma (Italian Croatian Mosaic Association of Rome). Also on hand was Ivana Perkušić, the deputy state secretary at the State Office for Croats Abroad.
The concept of identity is the common thread of the exhibitions that have thus far this year been staged in Rome on the 11th of February, in Zadar on the 3rd of August, and in Molise on the 14th of October. This time this art collage from Rome is being presented in Zagreb to art enthusiast and the participants of the CHF’s annual minorities symposium from six other European countries.
The Croatian-Italian exhibition was organised thanks to the efforts of the Italian Croatian Mosaic Association of Rome, with the gracious patronage of the State Office for Croats Abroad, the Croatian embassy in Italy, the Library of the City of Rome, the Jedna muzika, Isola Croata and Naš život organisations (three ethnic Croatian groups from the Molise region in central Italy) and, of course, the hosting Croatian Heritage Foundation.
