Igor Šipić’s book Vlašići i mali narodi (The Pleiades and Small Nations) was presented at the Croatian Heritage Foundation on the 28th of February. This two-tome collection of papers is published by the Hrvati association, Čakavska Katedra of Šopron (Sopron, Hungary), the PanoniQm institute, and the EMC GRAH KUME foundation, with financial support provided by the State Office for Croats Abroad.
Šipić was joined at the presentation by Franjo Pajrić, representing the publishers, and his long-time collaborator Srđan Nogić. In the focus of this book in two volumes is a topographical analysis and a spatial geometry drawn from this analysis. It is on this basis that Mr Šipić has established a number of matrices on the basis of which, in turn, he says the Mediterranean is spatially organised, with a number of cardinal points. The point of departure for this study is a pictorial map made for the Renaissance period Leopardi family depicting the transfer of the “Loreto House”. Šipić earned his doctorate analysing this depiction. The book promo was accompanied by an exhibition.
