The Veliki Tabor Desinić association of the Municipality of Desinić and the Men of Zagorje Hearts Croatian Association invite pupils attending grades 1 through 8 to participate in the Deca iščeju Veroniku (Children In Search of Veronika) 3rd annual art and creative writing competition. The topics of the art and creative writing competition are: love & everything associated with it, Veronika and Frederick lived happily ever after, myself as a part of the tale of Veronika and under Tabor—the old town.

The legend of the tragic love of Veronika of Desinić has left a lasting impression in the conscience of our people. Many theatre plays, songs and paintings have been inspired by the story. The Veliki Tabor Association and the Municipality of Desinić have launched the Children In Search of Veronika project, the aim of which is to find out how much children and youth know of Veronika Desinić, her life, love, the clothing she wore, her daily habits, the place in which she lived and those she visited. Through their art and literary creativity children offer their world of play, ideas, colours and words. Their written works, drawings, paintings and forms wear the most unusual forms and meanings. By decanting the details of the life of Veronika into creative writing and artistic expression by children brought to life in colours, textures, form, volume, rhythm, contrast and the like we will render visible and tangible all that we have heard and read of the legend of Veronika of Desinić.
This year, building on what we learned last year, we have again launched a competition on the topic of the legend of Veronika of Desinić. Last year several thousand pupils from six counties and the City of Zagreb took part under the patronage of Croatian Parliament and the Ministry of Family and Veterans Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity. This year the significance of the project was also recognised by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, which recommended participation to schools from across Croatia, and the project is also expanding to neighbouring countries.
We wish to thank all the competition participants from last year and invite schools and other institutions providing care for children to join the competition with their works. This legend from the history of our people can serve as a bond in our common future, a driving force joining all parts of Our Beautiful Homeland. Our dialects are jewels in the crown of our history.
The contest rules for this year are available below. You can learn more at our Web site www.veronika-desinicka.hr as of 1 April 2012. We wish all participants lots of success!

We look forward to cooperating and to your submissions!
