Croatian Language Month included the promotion of a collection of poems by pupils attending Croatian language instruction classes and the Duše collection of poems by Magdalena Džunkovska, a pupil attending Croatian language instruction in Bitola.

A presentation was staged in Skopje on the 27th of February of a collection of poems by pupils attending Croatian language instruction classes in Macedonia and the Duše collection of poems by Magdalena Džunkovska, a pupil attending Croatian language instruction in Bitola. The event celebrates Croatian Language Month in Macedonia. The works are part of a single book, presented in two volumes.

The poems penned by the pupils, collected as a single collection, were created over the past four years. The manifold value of the collection lies in the fact that it provides an undeniable contribution to Croatian culture in Macedonia and to artistic expression on the whole. The poems are accompanied by drawings by the youngest pupils of Croatian language instruction.

The second volume in the collection showcases twenty-four poems by talented secondary school pupil Magdalena Džunkovska. Magdalena usually writes in Macedonian – these poems are translated into Croatian, the language of her ethnic background. The poems are diverse in the topics they deal with and were created in varying creative and developmental phases and bear witness to her personal growth.

The book was presented by Croatian ambassador to Macedonia Danijela Barišić, poet Ljerka Toth Naumova, the publisher Goran Stojanov, Kočo Racin civic centre representative Violeta Kalić and Croatian language instruction teacher Vedran Iskra. Young poet Magdalena Džunkovska was also on hand to greet the gathered.

Noteworthy is the stage performance by the pupils who presented recitals specially prepared for the occasion. By far the most emotional part was the final segment of the promotion featuring the screening of a film about pupils attending Croatian language instruction in Macedonia. The event will be followed by similar promotions in Bitola and Tetovo.
