An evening with the author featuring Ljiljana Crnić (1954), a native of Sućurac living in Belgrade since her marriage, was held at the Marko Marulić municipal library October 28th. 
The poet Crnić is a member of the Croatian Writers’ Associations in Croatia and in Serbia and writes in the Ikavian and Čakavian forms of the Croatian language, employing the old Split and Kaštela idioms that local writers are desperately trying to preserve. Ljiljana Crnić’s poetry is amorous, warm and picturesque. 
The event was opened by the head of the CHF branch office Branka Bezić Filipović, who spoke of the significance of writing in the Croatian language to Croatians living abroad. A special treat for the evening was the attendance of Crnić’s teacher Gordana Bilić and home form teacher Zdenka Babić, who Crnić noted made a lasting impression on her. She dedicated a novella to each of them and read one during the programme. Given the quality of Ljiljana Crnić’s work, we plan to host other presentation events in our area.
