She served as the head of the Split municipality branch office of the Croatian Heritage Foundation from the 1970s through to her retirement in 1990. She was much loved among the emigrant communities in Australia and New Zealand with whom she worked most.
Julka Šperac was born in Korčula in 1933 in the aristocratic Arneri family. She received her education in Split. She worked as an English language teacher into the 1970s before assuming the helm of the Split municipality branch office of the Croatian Heritage Foundation.
She served at this post through to her retirement in 1990. She was much loved among the emigrant communities in Australia and New Zealand with whom she worked most – many of them had moved abroad as natives of the island of Korčula.
Her funeral was held at Split’s Lovrinac cemetery on the 26th of September. She is survived and grieved by her children Feđa and Marinka, her grandchildren and grand-grandchildren, colleagues and friends.
