CHF executive secretary Diana Mašala Perković and the head of the office of the director Lana Šaš were in Pécs on the 30th of June to represent the CHF at the gala opening of the 100 Years of Prica exhibition at the city hall, opened to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the painter’s birth and Croatian Statehood Day.
CHF executive secretary Diana Mašala Perković and the head of the office of the director Lana Šaš visited the Hungarian city of Pécs on the 30th of June to represent the Croatian Heritage Foundation at the gala opening of the 100 Years of Prica exhibition at the city hall, opened to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the painter’s birth and Croatian Statehood Day.
Painter Zlatko Prica (http://www.galerija-kula.hr/hr/slikar/35/Zlatko-Prica.aspx) was born in Pécs, in Baranya County in Hungary, on the 26th of June 1916 to a merchant family. In 1922 the Prica family moved to Zagreb where the young Zlatko finished elementary and secondary school before moving on to enrol in Zagreb’s Art Academy in 1937.
The works on exhibit were bequeathed to the City of Pécs – on hand to open the exhibition was the mayor of Pécs Zsolt Pava. Also on hand to speak at the opening was professor Ernest Barić. The opening was followed by a Catholic mass for the homeland at the cathedral in Pécs, on the occasion of Croatian Statehood Day and the 25th anniversary of Croatian independence. The mass was led by Attila Bognar, the parish priest from the southern Hungarian city of Mohács, and concelebrated with priests from Hungary and Croatia.
OC Miroslav Krleža was the venue for a gala reception that featured a presentation of Croatia’s Koprivnica-Križevac County and a cooking show hosted by the Podravka company of Koprivnica. The Korjeni women’s vocal ensemble of Martince (Felsőszentmárton) and the Biseri Drave tamburitza ensemble of Starin (Drávasztára) were on hand to provide musical entertainment.
