Anica Kovač Kővágó, the principal of Nikola Zrinski Elementary School in Kerestur (Murakeresztúr) in the Mura River region of Hungary, and Sanja Vulić PhD, a professor at the Croatian Studies department of the University of Zagreb, have joined forces to launch a Croatian diaspora language instruction programme.

The implementation of the programme has seen a successful kick-off with five days of intensive content in the frame of which four students from the Croatian Studies department of the University of Zagreb (Endrina Hrenić, Mateja Keleković, Marijana Radovac and Monika Turniški) held Croatian language classes. They provided a total of thirty-two hours of instruction (each giving eight standard lessons) under the mentorship of three Croatian language teachers at Nikola Zrinski Elementary School and their professor. The mentors all concluded with satisfaction that the pupils in all classes exhibited evident progress in their understanding and practical use of the Croatian language.

The Croatian national radio broadcaster and Hungarian national TV recorded comprehensive reports on this very successful new collaboration.

The hosts in Hungary prepared an excellent programme for their guests from Zagreb, including a visit to the excavations at Novi Zrin, built by Ban Nikola Zrinski on Legradska Gora (Szentmihályhegy), an excursion to the town of Kesthely, a ride on Lake Balaton and a pleasant visit to a family estate at Šandorica.
