A Croatian community has been active in the city of Zarate for 130 years. It is currently led by president Ivan Ostoja.
The city of Zarate near Buenos Aires boasts an active Croatian community gathered around an association headed by president Ivan Ostoja. Last week they organised a two-day Emigrants’ Day celebration dedicated to the Croatian community.
The stands featured various souvenirs of the homeland. Commemorative citations were presented to those that have lived in Argentina over fifty years – Dr Natalio Damjanović, Stanko Pernić and Jasna and Ivan Ostoja.
The community has lived and worked in Argentina for 130 years and also nurtures a love of its roots among its young members.
