The poet promoted two collections of her poetry at Zagreb’s Marija Jurić Zagorka Library. Her poetry was read by actors Zdenko Jelčić and Perica Martinović, and by Enes and Asja Kišević.
The Marija Jurić Zagorka Library on Zagreb’s Krvavi Most street was the venue October 6th for the promotion of Mostovi pod kojima se budim (Bridges Under Which I Awaken) and Nestvarno stvarni (The Unrealistically Real), two collections of poems by author Dijana Jelčić.
Dijana Jelčić celebrated her birthday in the intimate setting of this library, which exudes the particular atmosphere of the spiritual presence of famed Zagreb writer Marija Jurić Zagorka – very emotionally, surrounded by her friends and guests.
The small library could not receive all the poetry fans who wished to breathe a part of the positive atmosphere contributed to by actors Zdenko Jelčić, the poet’s husband, and Perica Martinović, who read selected excerpts from the collection.
The promotion was also graced by Enes and Asja Kišević, who also read some of the poems. Enes Kišević, himself a writer, spoke of Dijana Jelčić’s literary oeuvre. Also on hand for the promotion were actors Duško Valentić and Vitomira Lončar and many representatives of the media.
The rich life of the Jelčić couple, after thirty-eight years living and working in Switzerland, continues in Zagreb, where they have settled upon their return to the homeland.
Dijana Jelčić has encapsulated her insights into life in her verse, and her gift and intellectual curiosity has reached many people, some of whom were at the promotion to congratulate her and present her with floral bouquets.
On behalf of the Croatian Heritage Foundation Diana Mašala Perković greeted the author and passed on the warm greetings of friends from Switzerland Zvonimir Mitar and Tihomira Nuić. This happy emigrant and returnee story is sure to get a place in the CHF’s print and electronic media.
