The Croatian Heritage Foundation, the Jedna Musika (One Music) association and the Croatian-Italian Mosaic association staged the Molise Region Croats – A Disappearing Heritage exhibition of photography in the Italian city of Florence.
Gathered for the gala opening at the Biblioteca Umanistica on the 22nd of May were acting CHF director Mirjana Ana-Maria Piskulić and Molise region Croatian representative Antonela D’Antuno. Serving as hosts and presenters of the exhibition in Florence were Croatian language teacher Vlatka Gott, the library director Florina Tagliabue and Slavic languages professor Marcello Garzanati.
On hand at the opening to represent the Croatian embassy in Italy was minister plenipotentiary Mladenka Šarac-Rončević. The exhibition features the work of eminent Croatian artists: designer Sanja Bakrač Krištofić and photographer Marijo Krištofić, who conceived the event in collaboration with art historian Darko Glavan.
The Molise Region Croats – A Disappearing Heritage project is organised in collaboration with the Croatian Heritage Foundation. After showings in Molise and Rome, the exhibition is open to photography and Croatian heritage enthusiasts in Florence.
At the opening director Piskulić noted that, “The way in which the Molise region Croatians have preserved their language and their will and desire to further nurture it constitutes a great richness – our task is to assist them in this endeavour and this exhibition is part of that effort.”
