The round table participants were from the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, the United States of America, Canada, Italy and Croatia.
The Croatian Heritage Foundation hosted an online meeting of Croatians abroad hailing from Zadar County. In this webinar Zadar native Anita Baradić focused on the natural and cultural heritage of the area. Anita presented her excellent photography covering the local cultural heritage and spoke of the delightful points of interest, culture and history in Zadar, Nin, Silba, the Paklenica National Park, the Krupa and Zrmanja rivers, and many other destinations in Zadar County. Pag island lace making and klapa style a cappella singing were featured as two UNESCO-listed aspects of our intangible cultural heritage.
Participants of the online event included the Tijardović family of Canada, founders of the Klapa Kartolina ensemble. They spoke of their work aimed at the preservation of this traditional musical culture. Also featured was the Klapa Kapric ensemble of Zadar with the song that won them a silver prize at last year’s klapa music festival.
The round table discussion, moderated by CHF culture department head Snježana Jurišić, included participant discussion that focused on ancestors, impressions of Croatia—in particular Zadar and its environs, and the desire to visit and get to know Croatia, to learn our language, and establish better links and social contacts with other ethnic Croatians around the world. The participants were from the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, the United States of America, Canada, Italy and Croatia.
