At the meeting, it was agreed on the further course of financing and implementation of projects by which the Republic of Croatia will support the work on preserving the Croatian identity of the Croats in Paraguay.
On August 4, 2022, a joint meeting of representatives of the Croatian Heritage Foundation, the Central State Office for Croats Abroad and the delegation of the Paraguay Croats Club, led by President Mario Kriskovich and Secretary General Kevin Kriskovich, was held at the headquarters of the Croatian Heritage Foundation in Zagreb. The Croatian Heritage Foundation was represented by the deputy director, Ivan Tepeš, PhD, and the Central State Office for Croats Abroad was represented by Croatiana Gregurić, an advisor with a special position for issues of Croatian emigration/Croatian diaspora.
The held meeting is the result of increased mutual cooperation and activities between Croatian state institutions and associations of Paraguayan Croats, which were intensified during the 6th Meeting of the Croatian Emigration of South America held in the capital of Paraguay, Asuncion, at the end of March this year.
With a time delay of a few months, it was confirmed that it was good that the meeting place of Croats of South America and representatives of Croatian institutions from Croatia was held in Paraguay, a lesser-known South American emigrant destination in contrast to, for example, Argentina and Chile.
At the meeting, it was agreed on the further course of financing and implementation of projects by which the Republic of Croatia will support the work on preserving the Croatian identity of the Croats in Paraguay. In its work plan and program for 2023, the Croatian Heritage Foundation has foreseen an increase in subsidies to enable the arrival of a larger number of participants from South America to regular programs.
