Vatroslav Lisinski’s opera Love and Malice, the first ever Croatian opera (1846), has been released as an audio recording. The recording has been issued by state operated television and radio broadcaster Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT) and features a studio performance recorded in July of 2015 by the HRT Choir and Symphony Orchestra and soloists Evelin Novak, Leon Košavić, Domagoj Dorotić and Giorgio Surian in the lead roles and Mario Bokun and Stefano Surian in supporting roles.

The comprehensive redaction of the score – still to be published – is the work of Mladen Tarbuk, who also served as the conductor on this, a project of great importance to Croatian culture.

This showcase recording is targeted to aesthetic, study and education purposes but is also practical in promoting Croatian musical heritage around the world. National broadcaster Hrvatska radiotelevizija achieved this important project in collaboration with the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
