The mass was celebrated by Don Davor Lukačela the parish priest from Jimbolia (a town near Checea near Timişoara in Timiş County). Following the sermon the gathered were addressed by Croatian Ambassador Davor Vidiš.

The first Croatian language mass was celebrated at St Joseph cathedral in Bucharest on Friday the 8th of January for the small local Croatian community. The mass was organised by the community with the support of the Croatian embassy in Bucharest, with thirty members of the Catholic community in attendance.

Ambassador Vidiš expressed his deep thanks to Don Davor Lukačela in his selfless contribution and presence in Bucharest and his hope that the Croatian community in the city would continue to grow in the coming years.
Approval for the Croatian language mass at the chapel of St Joseph cathedral in Bucharest and consent for future masses to be celebrated once a month was given by Bucharest archbishop Ioan Robu.
