A Croatian ball in Trajštof (Trausdorf) on the 5th of January, just ahead of the Christian feast day of Epiphany, was hosted by the Croatian Culture Association, opening this year’s Croatian ball season. The ball in Trajštof was opened by the Tamburica Poljanci ensemble and also featured performances by the Pletari and Pinkica bands. Croatian Culture Association president Stanko Horvat expressed his happiness with the turnout for the 25th Croatian ball in Trajštof.

This year again saw an excellent turnout for the event with special guests including Croatian ambassador Vesna Cvjetković and consul Niki Berlaković, Horvat said.

This year the Croatian Culture Association will host only one more ball, in the south of the Gradišće (Burgenland) region. In central Gradišće there will not be a ball due to scheduling overlaps with the events of other associations, said the group’s president. The southern Gradišće Croatian ball will be staged on the 10th of February in Vincjet (Dürnbach) and will be co-hosted by the Čajta (Schachendorf) fire brigade.

The focus of the work of the Croatian Culture Association this year will be on the publication of a school textbook on the history of Gradišće region Croats. Teachers and scholars have been working on the textbook for the past three years. Other CCA activities will follow the regular annual schedule. (ORF Croatian language desk)
